چکیده

Evidence for a positive cosmological constant Λ, derived from the Lyα–forest in high–resolution spectra of quasars, leads to a closed, low–density, Λ-dominated universe. The analysis is based on the assumption of a universal shell structure expanding predominantly with the Hubble flow. Supporting evidence comes from two pairs of very wide absorption lines in the spectra of two quasars separated by 8 arcmin on the sky. These results contradict the higher values of the density parameter Ω M,0 derived, for example, from clusters of galaxies by the pure gravitational instability theory. Implications thereof and for the amount of non–baryonic dark matter in the universe are discussed with some Λ–dominated models, in particular with Ω M,0 = 0.2 and with pure baryonic models. The evidence points to low–density, closed models with spherical metric, expanding forever. When Albert Einstein in 1931 realized that the value of Λ could not be determined from the cosmological observations available at that time he recommended dropping the term " aus Gründen der logischen¨Okonomie " (for reasons of logical economy) until observations force us to reintroduce it again. His famous saying " Die Einführung von Lambda war vielleicht die größte Eselei in meinem Leben " (" Λ was perhaps the biggest blunder in 1

Quintessence – the energy density of a slowly evolving scalar field – may constitute a dynamical form of the homogeneous dark energy in the universe. We review the basic idea and indicate observational tests which may distinguish quintessence from a cosmological constant.

We have investigated the cosmological implications of the bulk viscous cosmological model with variable G and Λ. These results are found to be compatible with the present observations. The classical cosmological tests for this model encompass the Freese et al. ones. The model has some spirits of the Standard Model. The inflationary solution which solves the Standard Model problems is obtained a...

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) will carry out a digital photometric and spectroscopic survey over π steradi-ans in the northern Galactic cap. An array of CCD detectors used in drift-scan mode will image the sky in five passbands to a limiting magnitude of r ′ ∼ 23. Selected from the imaging survey , 10 6 galaxies, 10 5 quasars and selected samples of stars will be observed spectroscopicall...

Supersymmetric models predict a natural dark-matter candidate , stable baryonic Q-balls. They could be copiously produced in the early Universe as a by-product of the Affleck-Dine baryogenesis. I review the cosmological and astrophysical implications , methods of detection, and the present limits on this form of dark matter.
